Classes consist of barre and center work where students can
learn the fundamentals of dance. Beginner classes offer instruction in ballet and tap, while intermediate and advanced
classes concentrate in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, contemporary or pointe.
Pre-School (3 and 4 year olds): A one hour a week class of instruction for pre-schoolers in ballet and tap dancing. Children learn creative movement, coordination and rhythmic skills. At the end of the school year students perform one dance in the recital.
Beginner Combination Classes: One hour a week classes in ballet and tap for students who have started regular school. Classes are grouped into Beginner 1 and 2 levels based on ability. Students perform two dances in the June dance recital.
One hour classes in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, pointe and hip hop are offered to intermediate and advanced students based on ability. Ballet classes consist of barre, center work, jumps and turns. Jazz combines stretching and strength exercises with center and floor combinations. Tap classes utilize barre and center combinations to emphasize speed, clarity and rhythm. Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary and Hip Hop classes consist of stretching and strength exercises with center and floor combinations. Pointe and Pre-pointe classes are only offered to intermediate and advanced students who are also enrolled in ballet class.
PLEASE NOTE: Class placement is based upon an objective assessment of the students prior training and ability and is made solely by the staff of Dianes Dance Center.
